Value Clean Restrooms Service Clean Showers Cleanliness Tips for other Campers: The paper trail map is not accurate and does not have distances. An abundance of affordable apartments and are available for rent in this peaceful, lakefront suburb. We stayed here in a 40' Fifth Wheel.

There is no screening between sites. Also when coming in from the south, the CR 275 is fine for large rigs, saves several miles. If you need cable TV at your campsite this destination might be a good choice.

Our group moved on but we had to stay to take care of a medical emergency. It was a good place to be stuck, a pleasant environment and plenty of nature trails to walk our two dogs. It was fun to see families and friends enjoying all the park amenities. Plus, the rangers could not have been more accommodating, directing us to reputable medical care, helping us figure out the cheapest way to stay, even checking to make sure our air conditioner was running for our dogs when we were gone to the hospital all day. They have wifi, which is rare in a state park, but it is nearly useless. Of the three bathhouses, the one at Brushy Trail has the largest and cleanest showers. The water is hot and the pressure is good. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Travel Trailer. Value Clean Restrooms Service Clean Showers Cleanliness Tips for other Campers: The paper trail map is not accurate and does not have distances. Ask for a color trails map, it is much better. Almost all amenities are about 17 miles north in Abilene, although there is a small grocery store in Buffalo Gap. Don't miss the Frontier Texas Museum, even if you don't like museums. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. It is alway clean, well care for, and the personnel are friendly and helpful. Brushy Trail section is woodsy and home to deer and other wildlife. Sites are asphalt and fairly level, and are water and 50 amp electric only. There is a dump and trash station conveniently located. If you are a walker or biker, there are some hiking trails; in addition, the park has a lovely swimming pool. We have stayed in several of the sites over the years in Brushy Trail, but last night we were in 58. We stayed here in a 40' Fifth Wheel. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Fifth Wheel. There is an amazing amount of shade in this park. The RV pad was a mix of very old asphalt and dirt. Our sewer connection was above grade. There was good water pressure. The site could have used some daily maintenance. The setting is very pretty. We enjoyed the hiking trails and CCC structures. The check-in staff were friendly and helpful. Some CCC structures picnic tables, some benches and stairway to the pool need maintenance, specifically the removal of dirt and weeds, in order to preserve them. They are too priceless to ignore. We did not use the pool but it was beautiful and seemed to be well-maintained. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Fifth Wheel. Be careful of low branches if you have a tall rig. Most sites are pretty level and very spacious, with lots of vegetation between for privacy except in the Wagon Circle loop, which is very open. Most of the picnic tables are on cement patios. Restrooms are dated but clean. Good over-the-air TV and Verizon signals. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. The park is well shaded and there is a lovely swimming pool for the warm afternoons. It appears that they are cleaning up after some weather incident, but even so, the park is very well maintained. Pads are fairly level asphalt. Each site has a picnic table located on a concrete patio - no covering needed with the great shade. This park gives easy access to Abilene where you will find everything you might need; Wal-Mart, grocery stores, Abilene Mall, health services, etc. Just on the edge of west Texas, the sunsets here are pretty spectacular. Almost all of the state parks in Texas are good places to stop along the way to wherever. With that being said I would not like to do overflow again as it was very close quarters and no privacy, but they told us that ahead of time, so no surprise, just would not prefer to do that again. We did go around checking out the regular campsites and for the most part all looked pretty good, tent and R. Lots of shade trees and fairly level sites. If we come back this way again we would definitely like to get one of those sites. Campground was very family friendly and has a very nice swimming pool! Cost two dollars per person to use pool open 11 am to 3 pm then reopens at 4pm to 7pm. Being a hot summer day it was crowded the pool very nice ,clean pool though. Park employees very friendly and helpful. The fee for camping was only eight dollars for the two nights , but that reflects a 50% discount coupon I had for buying state park pass. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Travel Trailer. Value Clean Restrooms Service Clean Showers Cleanliness Tips for other Campers: One of the big draws for me was 1 Lake Abilene is just a mile down the road and entry is included in your camping fee. Fishing from shore and boats. You can rent kayaks at campground. Had an awesome cowboy cut ribeye, my wife had catfish and my son had ribs. One of the best steakhouses in Texas! Buffalo gap historic village, Vletas candies in Abilene. I highly recommend buying Texas state park pass, it has saved us a lot of money not only at Abilene state park but also at Palo Duro, and Garner state park so far.. I've never been here on a weekend. The park could be difficult to locate the first time. Find Buffalo Gap and then follow the signs, carefully. The Pecan loop has excellent, and spacious sites, for RV trailers or motorhomes. Most are level, and will easily accommodate a twenty four foot motorhome. The utilities are excellent and well placed. There is no sewer connection for the Pecan loop sites. The big negative here is the restroom. It is centrally located within the loop, but way to small for the potential number of people. The restroom is in need of a major renovation. There are plenty of trails here for biking or hiking. The place is dark at night, as it should be. There are an assortment of natural night sounds here including a chorus of Poorwills, and frogs. These pleasant sounds can be vastly disturbed by the occasional flyover by a B-1 Bomber. We camped here in a Motorhome, and we will return again next May. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. Nice park 20 miles south of Abilene Tx. There are several camping loops, most larger campers are put into Brushy Creek. These are mostly level, well spaced. Power is steady, water at 55PSI, no sewer at the site but there is a dump station at the end of the 12 space camping loop. There is a bird blind nearby, lots of birds and deer. Trails are very nice and well maintained. The pool wasn't open when we were there but imagine it's a busy place in the summer. To visit the lake you have to leave the park, go a mile or so up the highway and into another section. Staff throughout the park were very nice and courteous. There appeared to be no speed limit in the park for guests or staff. Traffic can be very fast. There was a camp host but we never saw them doing anything in the camp loop. Fire rings had not been cleared in a long time. Pads were asphalt and in good condition. We would stay here again if in the area, but bring diversions... We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. Didn't use the provided restrooms, too far away and we have our own. The campground was okay, just run down, hence a 7. All the sites needed some care, you tracked in a mess when going into the camper. Roads are a bit narrow, backing in with bigger rigs looked to be a bit on the difficult side but everyone we saw made it. I would stay here again when passing through. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Fifth Wheel. It was paved and we easily got level without using blocks. The sites in this CCC park were roomy and quiet. There are two showers available each for men and women with a private dressing area. The grounds and facilities are well kept overall. We especially enjoyed the hiking trails. We had Verizon cell service throughout most of the park. You can fish in the lake if you get a code from the front office. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. So far, Abilene State Park is my favorite state park for camping. I love the peacefulness of it, the easy trails are well kept and take you through interesting and varied terrain. The campsites are large, wooded, and full of deer. Abilene State Park was built by the Civilian Conversation Corps, and the CCC structures are among the most impressive that I've seen: the giant swimming pool and adjoining clubhouse and shower rooms, which are all still in use, the stone staircase to the creek, and all the concrete picnic tables throughout the park that will last forever. The lake is fun if you have or rent a kayak or canoe. You can also fish from the pier or just skip rocks, and there is a trail around the lake, up into the hills. The only thing they could improve would be to add full hookups at more of the RV loops. Some only have electric and water with a dumping station. That area has full hook-ups, an event center, and giant grill but fewer trees than the other loops. The park is only about a 30-minute drive from Abilene. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. The campsites are nestled in the heart of the park surrounding you with trees and nature. We saw deer and an armadillo here. The showers were such a surprise- they are modern and have excellent facilities. We were there for 4 nights and would love to go back again. The Rangers in this park are super helpful and knowledgeable. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. We stayed in site 29. Lots of trees and privacy. Full or partial hook-ups. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. Ask for a color trails map, it is much better. Almost all amenities are about 17 miles north in Abilene, although there is a small grocery store in Buffalo Gap. Don't miss the Frontier Texas Museum, even if you don't like museums. Abilene has a great, really great zoo - one of the best giraffe exhibits I have seen anywhere. The lake is a short drive from the campground. The park itself offers plenty of trails, including bike trails, and fishing the creeks to keep you busy. Also when coming in from the south, the CR 275 is fine for large rigs, saves several miles. And Abilene has an excellent mall. It's a very large park where you can hardly see your neighbor. We would definitely return. We stayed in the Oakgrove loop section. Bushy loop also looked great. Another is the buffalo Gap museum. Business development tools, forms and other tools to encourage your campers to post and promote your park. Widgets and Badges for use on your Park website. We're continuing to improve our Campground Owner Management system and more enhancements are coming soon. Features subject to change.

An abundance of affordable apartments and are available for rent in this peaceful, lakefront solo. The grounds and facilities are well kept overall. Many permanent people staying here, so you don't really have the feel of an RV Park, but more of what I imagine a trailer park feels like. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. The u was super couth and was very warm and welcoming when we showed up. We camped at Abilene State Park in a Motorhome. Our park has been completely remodeled and upgraded to accommodate you. Brand new laundry and bathrooms with showers. Abilene tx hookups all amenities are about 17 con north in Abilene, although there is a small grocery store in Buffalo Gap. Campers can look forward to sights like the Texas Frontier, Grace Museum, Abilene Zoo, Paramount Theater, Veleda's Chocolate Factory and a number of excellent shopping areas.
